Originally painted in 1977 as part of a Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) project, the mural was designed by a local artist. By 2012, it was faded and hardly visible. UMG took on the project of repainting it under the direction of the original artist with the help of neighborhood volunteers. The mural showcases businesses that were once part of Upper Madison and is an opportunity for visitors and residents to learn about the history of this special neighborhood.
